CHOOSING YOUR FIRST STEP
How Do I Begin With MSGS?
MSGS provides two ways to begin: a free introductory Discovery Call and a paid Hairline Restoration Strategy Session for personalized planning.
What is the difference between the Discovery Call and the Strategy Session?
The Free Discovery Call is a brief 10–15 minute introductory conversation for basic questions and initial fit. The $97 Hairline Restoration Strategy Session is the detailed appointment used to evaluate your specific needs and develop a personalized service direction.
The Discovery Call does not include scalp assessment, hairline design, unit selection, or detailed service planning. Those matters are addressed during the Strategy Session.
Where should I begin?
Begin with the Free Discovery Call when you still have basic questions or are unsure whether MSGS may be appropriate for you.
Schedule the Hairline Restoration Strategy Session when you are ready for individualized assessment, system considerations, maintenance planning, and a recommended next step.
Is the Strategy Session required?
Yes. A Strategy Session is required before MSGS recommends or orders a hair system for a new client.
The session helps prevent inappropriate system selection, unrealistic expectations, and misunderstandings about the financial and maintenance commitment.
MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT GETTING STARTED
-
Yes. The 10–15 minute Discovery Call is free. It is limited to introductory questions and does not include personalized planning.
-
Yes. The Discovery Call is optional. You may schedule the $97 Strategy Session directly when you are ready for personalized planning.
-
You may ask about the general process, privacy, whether MSGS serves your type of concern, whether existing hair-system wearers are accepted, and whether the Strategy Session appears to be the correct next step.
-
The Discovery Call does not include scalp assessment, hairline design, detailed system recommendations, exact unit selection, custom service planning, or medical advice.
-
After the session, you may decide to proceed with a stock or custom unit, delay service, continue researching, receive a maintenance recommendation, or pursue another option. The session does not obligate you to purchase a system.
UNDERSTANDING THE SERVICE
Men’s Hair Replacement Basics
What is a men’s hair system?
A men’s hair system is a non-surgical hair replacement unit designed to cover thinning or bald areas of the scalp.
The unit is selected, positioned, attached, cut, blended, and styled to coordinate with the client’s appearance and remaining hair.
Is a hair system the same as a wig or toupee?
A hair system is similar to what many people traditionally call a toupee, but modern hair systems are typically more customized in their base material, attachment method, hairline design, density, color, texture, cut, blending, and maintenance. A wig generally covers more of the scalp, while a hair system is usually designed to replace hair in a specific area.
At MSGS, we use the terms hair system and non-surgical hair replacement because they more accurately describe the personalized service and natural-looking result.
Who may be a good candidate for a hair system?
A hair system may be appropriate for a man experiencing thinning, recession, crown loss, baldness, or visible hair loss who wants a non-surgical option and is prepared for ongoing maintenance.
Suitability also depends on scalp condition, remaining hair, appearance goals, lifestyle, expectations, and financial readiness.
MORE HAIR REPLACEMENT BASICS
-
No. MSGS provides non-surgical hair replacement. The service does not involve transplantation, surgical implantation, or medical treatment.
-
No. MSGS is not a medical clinic and does not diagnose the cause of hair loss. Sudden hair loss, scalp disease, open wounds, or unexplained irritation may require evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional.
-
No. Hair systems may address different patterns and levels of hair loss, including recession, frontal thinning, crown loss, and larger areas of baldness.
-
Yes. The amount of coverage and system design depend on the size and location of the thinning area, remaining hair, and desired hairstyle.
-
A stock system is manufactured in standard specifications and may be customized during installation. A custom system is produced according to more individualized measurements or design specifications and generally requires additional time and a separate quote.
-
No. A hair system does not biologically grow from the scalp. The appearance is created through base selection, hairline design, density, placement, attachment, cutting, and blending.
APPEARANCE AND REALISM
What Makes a Hair System Look Natural?
Can a hair system look natural?
A hair system can look natural when it is properly selected, designed, installed, cut, blended, styled, and maintained.
The result also depends on the client’s existing hair, scalp, lifestyle, desired style, and willingness to follow the maintenance plan.
What can make a hair system look artificial?
An unnatural result may be caused by an inappropriate base, excessive density, incorrect color or texture, a hairline that is too low or sharp, poor placement, weak blending, delayed maintenance, or a worn unit.
Several factors may contribute at the same time.
Will people know I am wearing a hair system?
No responsible provider can guarantee that no one will ever notice.
The objective is to create a believable, balanced result that suits your age, facial structure, existing hair, and overall appearance.
MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT NATURAL RESULTS
-
The hairline should be planned around the client’s age, facial proportions, existing hair, desired style, and realistic density. The lowest or straightest possible hairline is not automatically the most natural choice.
-
Yes. Density can be selected or modified to coordinate with the client’s age, remaining hair, and desired appearance. Controlled density is often more believable than maximum density.
-
The unit should coordinate with the client’s color, texture, curl pattern, and gray percentage. An exact match may not always be possible, but careful selection and customization improve integration.
-
Yes. Age-appropriate results depend on hairline position, density, color, gray percentage, haircut, and styling.
-
Lighting can affect how any hairline, scalp, edge, density, or color appears. A properly planned result should be designed for ordinary daily conditions, but identical appearance cannot be guaranteed in every type of lighting.
-
No. Another client’s photographs may provide a reference, but your result must be planned around your own face, hair, scalp, age, lifestyle, and maintenance requirements.

THE INSTALLATION APPOINTMENT
What Happens During Hair-System Installation?
What happens during installation?
Installation may include scalp and existing-hair preparation, hairline positioning, system placement, attachment, customization, haircutting, blending, styling, adjustments, and immediate care instructions.
The exact service depends on the client and selected unit.
Does installation include cutting and blending?
The approved MSGS installation service generally includes the cut-in and blending needed to integrate the system with the client’s existing hair.
Any work outside the confirmed installation scope should be discussed before the appointment.
How is the hair system attached?
Hair systems may be attached using professional tapes, liquid adhesives, links, combs or a combination of methods.
The appropriate approach depends on the base, skin, lifestyle, wear schedule, and maintenance plan.
MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT INSTALLATION
-
The area covered by the system may need to be closely trimmed or shaved to create an appropriate attachment surface. Preparation depends on the coverage area, unit, attachment method, and service plan.
-
A properly attached system is designed to remain secure during ordinary wear, but no attachment is permanent or failure-proof. Moisture, oil, heat, delayed maintenance, or improper care may affect security.
-
Installation should not normally be painful. Clients should immediately report burning, significant irritation, unusual discomfort, or an unexpected skin reaction.
-
Appointment length varies according to the client, unit, and service required. Enough time must be allowed for preparation, placement, attachment, haircutting, blending, styling, and education.
-
Yes. Reference photographs help communicate your desired style, length, direction, and appearance, but they do not guarantee that the exact result can be reproduced.
-
Yes, within the limits of the hair type, construction, density, length, and haircut. MSGS will explain appropriate styling techniques and product restrictions.
-
Follow the preparation instructions sent by MSGS. These may address scalp and hair preparation, products to avoid, appointment duration, clothing, and payment requirements.
ONGOING OWNERSHIP
How Often Is Maintenance Required?
How often does a hair system need maintenance?
Many clients require full maintenance approximately every three to four weeks, although some need service sooner or later.
Timing depends on the base, adhesive, skin, natural hair growth, activity level, climate, perspiration, and home-care routine.
What happens during maintenance?
Full maintenance may include system removal, scalp cleaning, adhesive cleanup, unit cleaning, repositioning, reattachment, adjustment, and styling.
The exact service depends on the unit’s condition and the client’s needs.
How long does a hair system last?
Hair-system lifespan varies and cannot be guaranteed.
Base material, hair quality, processing, frequency of wear, maintenance, styling, climate, perspiration, products, and home care all affect longevity.
MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT MAINTENANCE
-
A hairline refresh is a focused service for the front attachment area between full maintenance appointments. It may include cleaning, adhesive removal, repositioning, and reattachment of the front edge.
-
Some clients learn portions of home maintenance, but self-service requires proper instruction, products, technique, and realistic expectations. Improper removal or positioning can damage the system or affect the result.
-
Delayed maintenance may cause lifting, shifting, adhesive buildup, odor, irritation, matting, poor blending, and unit damage.
-
No. Maintenance frequency refers to how often the unit is cleaned, repositioned, or reattached. Lifespan refers to how long the physical system remains suitable for wear.
-
Replacement may be needed when the unit develops significant shedding, dryness, fading, tangling, base deterioration, loss of shape, or wear that affects the finished result.
-
No. Planning ahead allows time to order, receive, review, and prepare the replacement unit without creating unnecessary service interruption.
LIVING WITH A HAIR SYSTEM
Can I Live Normally While Wearing a Hair System?
Can I shower, sleep, and exercise in a hair system?
Many extended-wear systems can remain attached during sleeping, showering, and exercise.
Your specific care requirements depend on the system, attachment method, activity level, perspiration, maintenance schedule, and instructions provided by MSGS.
Does Florida heat and humidity affect hair systems?
Yes. Heat, humidity, perspiration, and skin oils may influence adhesive breakdown, comfort, and maintenance frequency.
A Tallahassee maintenance plan should account for the local climate and the client’s activity level.
Will I need to change my daily routine?
Some changes are usually required.
You may need to use specific products, follow different washing or styling methods, protect the unit during certain activities, and attend regular maintenance appointments.
MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT DAILY WEAR
-
Swimming may be possible with some systems and attachment methods, but chlorine, salt water, prolonged moisture, and vigorous activity may affect the unit and attachment.
-
Yes, but frequent friction, tight headwear, heat, and pressure may affect styling, shedding, tangling, or attachment.
-
Yes. Plan for products, weather, maintenance timing, and possible attachment concerns before traveling.
-
Yes. Your natural hair continues to grow and may require regular cutting and blending by someone who understands how to protect and integrate the unit.
-
A hair system can fit many work and lifestyle routines when the unit, attachment, maintenance schedule, and care plan are selected appropriately.

ALREADY WEARING A SYSTEM?
Can MSGS Help With a System Installed Elsewhere?
Can MSGS maintain a hair system installed somewhere else?
MSGS may provide maintenance for a system installed by another provider, but the unit and current attachment must be evaluated first.
Service depends on the system’s condition, construction, fit, adhesive buildup, and the work required.
Can I switch hair-system providers?
Yes. Clients are not automatically required to remain with the provider who originally supplied or installed the system.
Review any existing contract or membership agreement before changing providers.
Will I automatically need a new unit?
No. Some systems can continue to be maintained, corrected, restyled, or improved.
Replacement may be recommended when the current unit is damaged, poorly specified, excessively worn, incorrectly sized, or unable to support the desired result.
MORE QUESTIONS FOR EXISTING WEARERS
-
An evaluation may still be required, particularly for a provider change, replacement unit, correction, new service plan, or significant design adjustment.
-
MSGS may be able to improve the haircut, blend, shape, or styling. The outcome depends on the unit’s length, density, condition, placement, and remaining natural hair.
-
Some hairline concerns may be improved through cleaning, repositioning, attachment correction, density management, styling, or replacement.
-
MSGS may recommend and order a replacement after reviewing the current system, specifications, appearance goals, maintenance needs, and service plan.
-
Possibly. MSGS must determine whether the current system and service requirements are compatible with the studio’s standards, schedule, products, and technical capabilities.
-
Bring information about the unit, previous service schedule, adhesives or products used, concerns you want addressed, and any contract terms affecting the provider change.

Can MSGS guarantee a specific result?
No. MSGS can provide professional planning and service but cannot guarantee an identical outcome, permanent attachment, a precise lifespan, or that no one will ever notice the system.
Results depend on multiple client, product, service, lifestyle, and maintenance factors.
